Dr. Ethan Lazarus
Cellist. Pianist. Composer. Arranger.
IT START WITH
Life. Love. Music.
Ethan is a cellist, a pianist, a composer, and an arranger. Currently, Ethan performs in the Grand Tango Duo with his life-long friend, Carl Algermissen (Piano). They have performed across the United States, and have released 2 CD’s: Evenings With Astor, and Street Tango. Both CD’s feature their original, compelling arrangements of music by Astor Piazzolla for cello and piano.
Ethan played as principal stand cellist with the Littleton Symphony Orchestra for 20 years and was featured as their soloist on February 14th, 2020, performing his own original arrangements of works by Astor Piazzolla. The piece was named “Amor Tango Suite.” His arrangement of Libertango was featured by the LSO in 2012.
In addition to the music of Astor Piazzolla, Ethan enjoys classical, jazz, and even soundtrack music. The Grand Tango Duo performs Ethan’s arrangements of works by John Williams, Ennio Morricone, Joe Hisaishi, and Italian Jazz Pianist Enrico Pieranunzi.
More recently, Ethan has been studying advanced music theory, composition, orchestration, and digital audio workstation production techniques. In 2020, he produced completely on his own the album “Remembering Tomorrow.” This was released December 11th, 2020 on Spotify, iTunes, and all major streaming platforms. Several other albums are in the works including “First Flight,” an album of cinematic orchestral music.
