Journey of the Elephants
Journey of the Elephants tells the story of an elephant herd. It starts with one elephant calling out, finding and joining a herd. The second movement is a waltz, with a brief flute symbolizing a baby elephant. The third movement is a hunt scene, ending in 5 gunshots (snare drum) and the killing of the baby’s mom. The forth movement depicts the baby elephant, alone and scared, until in the 5th, you hear the baby (flute) joining back with the herd. While the herd is triumphant, the ending brings back melancholy, as the future survival of the elephants living in a human-dominated world remains uncertain.
